Gender x Digital hub – A platform for bringing meaningful digital connectivity to women and girls

The Gender x Digital Opportunity

In a rapidly digitizing world,

technology empowers women and girls

technology empowers women and girls

in low- and middle-income countries by unlocking access to education, healthcare, financial services, jobs, and civic participation.

The good news is that as of 2024, more women in South Asia have access to mobile phones than ever before.

And yet...

The rural-urban  divide persists

Rural internet penetration stands at 28% among women, compared to 65% in urban areas (TRAI, 2023)

286 million women

in South Asia are not using mobile internet  (GSMA, 2024)

Only 54% of women

in the 15-49 age group operate mobile phones (NFHS-5)
